Other Projects

On this page, you can view details on some of the other projects I completed through the course of my degree.

Analog Projects

Physical games completed during the early portion of my degree

Qu'Alari's Challenge

Qu'alari's Challenge was one of the first games I designed during my time at Full Sail. This was a 2-4 player Battle Royale style card game in which players chose their hero from a set of 6 Champion Cards. Play then began with 5 cards being dealt to each player from the global deck of 85 Action Cards. The deck of Action Cards included Monster cards that players could use to strengthen their army, Equipment cards including weapons and armor that a player could use to strengthen their Champion, and Spell cards that could either heal a player's champion or damage one of their opponents.

Team Amethyst SCRAPS Project

The SCRAPS project during my first year was the first opportunity I had to work with a team. The goal of the project was for each of us to make an area of our own design that we would combine together in order to form a singular level. This project also served as our first opportunity to work on a truly 3D project within the Unity Engine.

For my area, I created an abandoned factory that the player had to traverse through in order to acquire a set of blueprints that had been left inside a vault. While the core mechanics of the character in this project were designed by the professors well before we ever got access to it, we were each responsible for everything that appeared in our areas. I designed and scripted the functionality for all of the interactable objects within my area of the level. I also created a terrain effect for the last portion of my area: a garage flooded with water that had been electrified by fallen wires. This effect caused a damage-over-time effect on the player if they stayed in the water.

First Unreal Engine Project

This project was my first chance to work in the Unreal Game engine, version 4.26 at the time. Over the course of this project, I was tasked with fully implementing the animations for the player character, designing and implementing a functional health and shield system, designing a weapon that could fire two different projectiles, and designing multiple different buffs that the character could collect, such as a temporary speed boost for the player and a health pack for the player to heal. I also had to design a small testing track for the player to complete, using the mechanics I created to find and shoot a series of targets. Lastly, I was responsible for creating all of the UI elements for the project, Including the main menu and credits screen, as well as the player’s HUD to track their health, ammo, and objective.
